THE ROSIES WERE RIVETERS AND MORE!
Pilots, machinists, auto workers, butchers, engineers, lumberjacks, riveters, farmers and more, over 18 million American Women not only kept the home front running in support of the World War II effort, but saved countless soldiers’ lives through their work as human computers and codebreakers. Our mission is to build a National Memorial in Washington, DC in honor of these women and their service to our nation. These women were not only instrumental in the war effort, but they showed the world what women were capable of, changing the path for future generations.
Eisenhower himself said, “The contribution of the women of America, whether on the farm or in the factory or in uniform, to D-Day was a sine qua non [or necessary for]…the invasion effort.”
Raya Kenney, founder, speaking at the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony Reception Honoring the Rosies.
